Any dog can learn Nosework! The training methodology is designed to help dogs tap into their hunting instincts, learn independent problem-solving skills, and to build broad and solid foundational scent detection skills that will enable them to successfully face new and greater challenges in Nosework.

In Nosework, dogs learn how to search for a specific odor(s) and find the source of the scent. Dogs start by searching for their favorite food reward hidden in a variety of environments, increasing the challenges, and adding new search skills as the dog progresses.

We are offering 6 Levels of Nosework as of this time:

Level 1 – Intro to Nosework, Treats in a Box, Scent Theory, and more!
  • Age requirement: 6 months and older, no previous training required
  • Duration: 4 weeks; class meets 1 hour every week on the same day of the week and time as the starting date of the class.
  • Location: Puppy Love Training
  • Price: $120 Levels 1-4, $110 Levels 5-6
  • Class Size: Limited to no more than 5 dogs.
  • Please bring dogs on flat collar or harness (non-restricting movement) and 6-foot leash, if possible bring dog crate, bring enticing, good smelling chunky treats
Level 2 – Variation to finding treats in boxes with varying objects and heights, closed boxes, and more! 
Level 3 – Closed boxes, increasing number of boxes, varying objects, introduction to odor, and more!
Level 4 – Commitment to Odor paired with food, elevation searches, and more!
Level 5 – Odor searches, added distractions, larger search area, and more! Information about the sport of Scent Work/Nosework
Level 6 – Outdoor searches, odor only, blind searches, and more! Learning about rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Levels 2-6 require previous level of Nosework class taught at Puppy Love or require Instructor’s approval.
